In:
S'utilitza per a llocs grans o tancats, com ara:

- Espais tancats: The cat is in the box.
S'utilitza per a referir-se a l'interior d'un mitjà de transport, com ara:
- Cotxe: I sat in the car.

- Tren: The passengers boarded in the train.
- Avió: She boarded in the plane.
On:
S'utilitza per a superfícies o llocs petits, com ara:
- Mobles: The book is on the table.
- Carreteres: The car is on the street.
- Parts del cos: The hat is on my head.
S'utilitza per a referir-se a la part superior d'un mitjà de transport, com ara:
- Bicicleta: I sat on the bike.
- Cavall: She sat on the horse.
- Motocicleta: He sat on the motorbike.
Consells:
- Pensa en la mida del lloc. Si el lloc és gran o tancat, utilitza "in". Si el lloc és petit o una superfície, utilitza "on".
- Pensa en la posició. Si estàs a l'interior del mitjà de transport, utilitza "in". Si estàs a la part superior del mitjà de transport, utilitza "on".
